About the team: We are VI Paddling’s first and only open women’s rec team. The team was founded in 2019 to be a safe, welcoming, and friendly place for women to learn and grow their dragon boat skills and passion. We’re a rec team that likes to put in the work so we can win, but also think paddling should be fun and know it’s about a lot more than just the hardware around our necks.
Coach: Kelly Spilsbury, DBC Level 1 Community Coach certified. Has been paddling since 2016. Currently paddles with the Gorging Dragons Premier High-Performance Team.
Festivals attended: Race the River or Gorge Super Sprints, Westwood Lake Dragon Boat Regatta, Victoria Dragon Boat Festival, Comox Dragon Boat Festival, and one additional festival per year to be decided.
