Founded: 2023 as VI Paddling’s learn to dragon boat program, 2024 as a full-time recreational team.
Team type/Race division: Mixed recreational
Practice times: April 4 – 25: Thursdays from 6:30 – 7:30pm. May 2 – Mid-September: Thursdays from 7:15 – 8:15pm.
About the team: The Wave Cutters began their journey as VI Paddling’s first ‘learn-to’ dragon boat program in Comox in 2023. After a short, successful entry into the sport, many of the team members decided they had too much fun to hang up their paddles so quickly. So, in 2024, the Wave Cutters transitioned to a full-time mixed recreational team practicing out of Comox Marina. This is a great team for new and experienced paddlers alike.
